Worthington: Vegan Barbeque Chicketts Pizza
The Fast Casual Nation podcast offers exclusive interviews with experts ranging from top chefs and brand makers to executives and restaurateurs who work in one of the fastest-growing segments of the restaurant industry. In this episode, host Paul Barron chats with Jon Fish, the vice president of marketing for Worthington, to provide a hands-on look at some of the latest innovative plant-based products on the market today.
Worthington is a plant-based or “plant powered” brand that specializes in providing clean, healthy alternatives to meat products. The company’s products are packed with protein, and offer vegetarians, vegans, and health-conscious consumers a number of delicious meal options.
“Chicketts is a vegan, one-to-one comparison if you’re looking to replace chicken in a menu. It’s that replaceable,” says Fish, referring to Worthington’s popular chicken alternative. “It can be sliced, diced, shredded—all from one, simple, economical chub.”
The Chicketts roll is easy to handle and lends itself to any restaurant recipe. With the aggressive growth in plant-based markets and broadening consumer awareness regarding plant-based and vegan products, the product seems poised for success.
“We were looking for that authentic flavor and texture and we wanted to provide it to people so that they could use it as a substitute in their menus for all their popular items,” adds Fish. “We want to make it so easy for them, that they can get this roll, tear it apart, break it up, slice it, dice it—just like they would a chicken breast—and get the same results without having to go through a bunch of extra steps to make it seem like chicken.”
