Honey Butter Fried Chicken: Fried Chicken Gets a Chef-Driven Upgrade
In this episode of Fast Casual Nation, brought to you by Chepri, host Paul Barron sits down with Christine Cikowski and Joshua Kulp, the co-founders and chefs behind Chicago restaurant staple Honey Butter Fried Chicken.
Honey Butter Fried Chicken—unsurprisingly—features an extensive chicken-based menu, as well as sandwiches, salads, wings, milkshakes, desserts, and a number of local craft beers. Cikowski and Kulp conceived and honed the concept while overseeing their community-based dining experience, Sunday Dinner Club.
“Sunday Dinner Club was started with this whole idea of building a community of diners,” says Kulp. “This felt like a natural extension for us.”
The goal for Cikowski and Kulp is to make customers feel warm, happy, and truly welcome. “We were going for a counter-service casual restaurant [feel], but with very high quality food and plated in a casual way,” says Cikowski. “We wanted our service to be refined, friendly, warm, and lovely, but also casual and fast.”
